I was in constant pain, and I did not think it was possible for my ankle to ever heal.\nWe saw the advertisement for the Foot \u0026amp; Ankle Institute of Miami Beach, and we waited about 3 months before we finally gave it a shot. I was skeptical, to say the least. I read what other patients had to say about stem cell treatment, and I decided to try it without any expectations.\nI have to admit, the technology is a breakthrough. It works. I could not be happier about my decision to meet Dr. Guyen. I have never met a physician more committed to help her patients heal.\nTo all those who consider stem cell treatment, please note that it does not happen overnight. It takes time and patience. It is a long journey, but it is totally worth it. I can now move my foot more than I have ever been able to since my injury. My injury happened 20 years ago, so it is going to take some time to heal. Other treatments failed me, but I am sure that with stem cell therapy the function of my ankle will be fully restored.\nI began treatment about a year ago, and I will continue. Stem cell and blood platelet procedures make waves in the field of podiatry. They treat foot and ankle pain and injuries effectively.\nBefore you opt for surgery, replacement, or fusion, speak to the physician who treats your condition about PRP injections or cell-based therapy. Compared to surgery, these options are non-intrusive.\nPhysicians all over the world recommend stem cell therapy as a non-invasive alternative to traditional foot and ankle surgery. Our physicians carefully diagnose your foot and ankle before they suggest the most suitable cell-based therapy for your specific condition.\nHow does it work? Our bodies have an inbuilt healing mechanism. Stem cells let the damaged tissue repair itself without external medication and procedures. Conventional foot and ankle treatment uses cortisone in combination with other drugs to provide pain relief, but this is only a short-term solution.\nCell-based therapy provides a long-term solution to pain, because it restores the health of the affected tissue. It is a natural alternative to steroid shots and cortisone. It treats many foot and ankle problems, including muscle injuries, joint injuries, ligament injuries, major wounds, and arthritis.\nConditions we treat Fractures Arthritis Ankle instability Peroneal tendon tear or split Ligament sprain or tear Sub-talar arthritis or instability Tarsal tunnel syndrome Plantar fasciitis and heel pain Scar tissue Diabetic wounds Our consulting physicians treat all musculoskeletal joints, which includes shoulders, knees, hips, and back. I was skeptical.\nI use that in the past tense, because this new technology is a breakthrough. My background is a long story, so here are the notes. I was in a horrific aircraft accident in 1996. It resulted in numerous broken bones, including a fractured skull, but more important to my nerve issue was a broken back. This resulted in spinal damage, which led to partial paralysis, and in some areas of my lower right leg and foot, complete paralysis of movement. I could no longer move my right foot right or left. More important, I could not move it up, as if I lifted it toward the sky.\nMy fiancé, now my lovely wife Kimberly, insisted that I look into this treatment method, and I decided to take the plunge. I figured nothing ventured, nothing gained, and what else would I do during the time of the treatment anyway.\nThis was the best decision I have made in my health care. Let me say that it has not been a night and day change. Nothing happens overnight. However, I can now move my foot to the right and to the left, not 100 percent, but noticeably more than I ever could. I begin to see my foot start to move upward. It is not 100 percent yet, and 20 years have passed since my injury, so I realize it is going to be a long journey. I am more than optimistic that I will achieve as close to 100 percent as physically possible.\nRealistically, this has been a hard road of many years since I began my treatment. I continue with the treatment as prescribed by Dr. Guyen indefinitely, because progress is still made. I am no longer a skeptic of treatment like this. I have nothing but the highest thanks for Dr. Guyen and her fantastic group of nurses and assistants. I can do nothing short of encourage anyone who thinks of getting this done, or who is on the fence, that there should be no hesitation about stem cell treatment. Dr. Guyen has indeed been a life changer.\nDave Hegedus, Charlotte, NC\n","externalUrl":null,"permalink":"/testimonials/dave-hegedus/","section":"Testimonials","summary":"I was skeptical at first. PRP therapy makes headlines in the medical industry. Time and again, it proves itself effective in the treatment of foot and ankle injuries.\nHow PRP therapy works Platelets in the body have various functions. Their primary role is to assist in blood clotting, so that we do not bleed excessively when we get a cut. Platelets also carry proteins that assist with the healing of wounds.\nPRP therapy works by injection into the tissue that is damaged or inflamed. It promotes the healing of wounds. The increased concentration of platelets in the area helps it heal faster.\nPRP treatment boosts our natural healing process, because it speeds up the gathering of bioactive proteins in the damaged location.
